Change colours and contrast

Ability to change colour and contrast levels to support those who find the default settings unhelpful. There should also be the choice to inherit the system settings as described under 'Built in accessibility checks' For those with visual impairment and colour deficiencies it may be important to be able to adapt the view of the application and content. (CEUD 1.6, IBM 4.2, IBM 4.3,VPAT section 1194.21 (g)).

Testing Techniques

These techniques may be used to perform the test.

Method

Manual checks with the ability to not only change colours, but also to select plain backgrounds if patterned ones are offered. Make sure high contrast levels offered by the system override those of the software application. Ensure that by default sufficient contrast levels between text and background are offered by the software interface.

Criteria for this Test

Poor No changes can be made and the application does not take on any system changes to colour.
Fair The application responds to system colour changes but there are no colour options for content or the software application
Good Some changes can be made to the content when working with the application but no interface changes can be made other than through the operating system.
Excellent Possible through built in Operating System options with additional support within the application for menus and content.
