Media events offer user control

The user should be able to control events such as video or animation playing, audio and blinking /flashing notification events. There should be no part of the screen that flashes at rates between 2Hz and 55/60Hz. (CEUD 1.8, IBM 3.3, IBM 5.2,VPAT section 1194.21 (k)).

Testing Techniques

These techniques may be used to perform the test.

Method

Manual check and view any issues with visual displays or screen elements such as flashing buttons. Check all volume and player controls for keyboard access and clear labelling for screen reader users.

Criteria for this Test

Poor Controls not easily recognised. Flash rates are between 2Hz and 55/60Hz
Fair Controls have mouse only access. Blinking /flashing events can be controlled.
Good The odd /poorly designed controls but keyboard accessible.
Excellent Clear standard interface design with standard controls for all media elements or Not Applicable
