Web 2.0 Service
Test Average: 67%

Description

Journal system with an instant-messaging style publishing and reading mechanism. Intended for writers who are at events and talking about them as they happen. Selling point is 'instant publishing' which is really a 'non-feature' as every blogging platform is instant if you can access the website! The real point is the instant messaging style reading and writing system.

Accessibility Testing Results

This site has a Flash menu at the top but it does not prevent you from being able to add blogs. The colours on the site may be considered unhelpful by some and hard to read by others plus the text editor cannot be used with keyboard only access.

2Image ALT Attributes Fair Alt tags not enforced and none found throughout featured blogs.
3Link Target Definitions Excellent All links, including images which would otherwise be ambiguous, have titles to uniquely identify them.
4Frame Titles and Layout Good Poor iframe names in broadcaster.
5Removal of Stylesheet Excellent The page is still understandable and functional when it is viewed as a linear document, with no styles.
6Audio/Video Features Good Adding videos and audio is controlled by the editor and captioning needs to be already available within the video. Text descriptions can be part of the blog.

12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Excellent The product provides suitable feedback when the user performs an action.
13Contrast and Colour Check Fair Few contrast issues. Would depend upon template used by blog owners. Poor contrast in bloggers control panel. Text in input fields turns red when focussed - maybe difficult to read.

15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Fair Particularly small text prevalent throughout the site, which may be difficult to view without zooming the page.
