Description

Blogging site intended for people involved in education. Runs on vanilla Wordpress engine, so there is very little difference between itself and any other blogging site. The main feature is the educational community that uses it.

Accessibility Testing Results

Because Wordpress is mainly a text based system it is accessible to most users including those working with screen readers and keyboards. The registration page it can be used with the text browser WebbIE. It uses TinyMCE as a rich text editor which can be reached using a keyboard and the menu buttons are also accessible. Colour contrast levels and text sizes can be changed by the designer.

6Audio/Video Features Good Video, images, podcasts and audio can be added to the site with access to the HTML to add attributes or make use of text descriptions and transcripts. Captioning will need to be already part of the uploaded videos.
7Video/animations - audio descriptions Excellent Videos are uploaded and it is possible to add audio files if alternative descriptions are required. Text transcripts can be added as part of the content on the blog.
8Appropriate use of Tables Excellent Tables are not used for the design of this website.
9Tab Orderings Correct and Logical Excellent Tab order is in a logical and consistent top-to-bottom or left-to-right format.
10Page Functionality with Keyboard Excellent The website is fully accessible without the use of a mouse.
11Accessibility of Text Editors Fair The rich text editor's toolbar lacks keyboard access in some browsers, but basic functionality is fine as there is a simple text form option.
12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Excellent The product provides suitable feedback when the user performs an action.
13Contrast and Colour Check Good No contrast issues. Depends upon template selection of individual blogs.
14Page Integrity when Zooming Excellent The website maintains the layout and usability of all critical areas perfectly when zoomed.
15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Good The majority of text on the site is size ten, which is readable but may be uncomfortable for some.
