Description

A small, simple notebook which is organised into 'tiddlers'. Each tiddler is a page where information can be stored. Since it is a single HTML file, it can be used offline, stored on a memory stick or placed online for anyone to edit. Rather poor introduction on the website - doesn't say how to actually get started with your own tiddlers but once you have played around with the pages it is on of the simplest way to keep notes that are linked to the web and it is always useful to have a copy of your own Tiddlywiki on your desktop if you do not have access to OneNote. Tiddlers can be synchronised across the Web.

Accessibility Testing Results

This is the one site you would think would be accessible as it appears to be a simple web page - it is possible to work your way around with a screen reader and keyboard, but the number of links created with each tiddler make it hard work and the one you want to read is then placed at the bottom of the list. It can be read with text to speech programs as words can be highlighted. There are no images and an easy layout makes it score well. However, the four important menu buttons are small and pale grey - not a good contrast level even when the background colour is changed!

# Test Score Summary
1Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible Excellent The entry forms all have short cut keys and despite no labels content is always there before you begin to edit so is accessible.
2Image ALT Attributes Excellent Tiddlers do not usually have images but HTML with correct attributes can be used if required.
3Link Target Definitions Good The site uses many "tiddlers" which represent notes in your wiki. Each one has a series of tool buttons, which are the same for each tiddler. This may cause ambiguity problems, as many links have the same name.
4Frame Titles and Layout Excellent No frames or iframes, which can be disorientating for screen-readers, are used in the design.
5Removal of Stylesheet Poor All links in this product are JavaScript driven. Furthermore, they do not function without the CSS style, causing the page to fail completely when in outline view.
6Audio/Video Features Good There is no audio. The application is entirely text based with any amount of description that can be ready by a screen reader users.
7Video/animations - audio descriptions Good Audio descriptions cannot be added but any amount of text can be used although there are no images to descibe.
8Appropriate use of Tables Excellent Tables are not used for the design of this website.
9Tab Orderings Correct and Logical Excellent Tab order is in a logical and consistent top-to-bottom or left-to-right format.
10Page Functionality with Keyboard Excellent The website is fully accessible without the use of a mouse.
11Accessibility of Text Editors Excellent The plain text editor can be accessed with a keyboard and new tiddlers have a shortcut key.
12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Good Once the tiddler has been completed it can be saved and work will be shown with no other feedback.
13Contrast and Colour Check Poor Close and other action buttons on items are impossibly low contrast (1.6:1).
14Page Integrity when Zooming Excellent The website maintains the layout and usability of all critical areas perfectly when zoomed.
15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Fair Particularly small text prevalent throughout the site, which may be difficult to view without zooming the page.
