Accessibility Testing Results

CloudWorks is a highly accessible social networking tool, with its only major let-down being the rich text editor in Chrome and Safari. But it can be switched off by removing the CSS stylesheet. Poor form feedback could cause problems for inexperienced users. Some elements (such as the login form and the search bar) take time to reach.

# Test Score Summary
Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible Good Login form accessible but is embedded on the homepage and takes a long time to reach through tabbing.
Image ALT Attributes Excellent Very few images on the site. Some are implemented with CSS and so cannot have alt text or be tabbed to, but these are non-critical, decorative images. Users add images to their Clouds using HTML, making alt text a possibility if you know how.
Link Target Definitions Excellent Links easy to read. Search facility provided, but no breadcrumb trail or site map. The site has a skip navigation link to the content.
Frame Titles and Layout Excellent No frames anywhere, except the rich text editor.
Removal of Stylesheet Excellent Site very easy to use without CSS. Rich text editor even becomes a plain text HTML editor when CSS is removed, making it much more accessible.
Audio/Video Features Excellent Audio and video are added using HTML or by embedding content from sites such as YouTube; thus, possibilities are limited only by the capabilities of HTML and the external services used.
Video/animations - audio descriptions Excellent Video and animations are added using HTML or by embedding content from sites such as YouTube; thus, possibilities are limited only by the capabilities of HTML and the external services used.
Appropriate use of Tables Excellent Tables used to present tabular data only. Very well laid-out with hidden captions to explain the purpose of the tables.
Tab Orderings Correct and Logical Excellent Very logical tab ordering with skip navigation link at the top of every page.
Page Functionality with Keyboard Excellent Site is very easy to use with the keyboard, though CSS should be removed in order to disable the inaccessible rich text editor.
Accessibility of Text Editors Good Rich text editor initially impressive as buttons can be selected with keyboard, but unfortunately impossible to tab out of text box with keyboard when using Chrome or Safari browsers. Need to use Firefox or Explorer for the best results.
Appropriate Feedback with Forms Fair Some forms with only one step (e.g. posting new content) provide no feedback. No apparent time restrictions.
Contrast and Colour Check Excellent Most page elements conform to WCAG 2 colour contrast guidelines at level AAA, though some persistant elements (such as the sign out button) may be hard for some to read with white on a shade of red.
Page Integrity when Zooming Excellent Site behaves perfectly when zooming in all browsers.
Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Excellent Easy-to-read sans serif fonts used exclusively. Very good layout. No excessively small text anywhere.
