Accessibility Testing Results

IMDb is in general terms an easy to use and accessible website. But as it is highly based on images and videos, efforts should be channelled into making the multimedia data more accessible before uploading them. Captions and transcripts for the videos are really important so that the end users have a more accessible experience.

1	Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible		There is no Captcha alternative. Forms miss some important labels which impact on screen reader use.
2	Image ALT Attributes		The majority of images don't have alternative text, many are used as links and are not screen reader friendly. Some text appears in an image - this can be seen in Webbie text browser but is not read by NVDA.
3	Link Target Definitions		Most image links don't have appropriate titles or descriptions but text links are acceptable.
4	Frame Titles and Layout		There are some iframe elements with no additional links to the content. These do not appear to impact on screen reader use.
5	Removal of Stylesheet		The page is still understandable and functional when it is viewed as a linear document, with no styles.
6	Audio/Video Features		Videos can have a text description and text captions can be added to the video before uploading, although many videos lack this.

8	Appropriate use of Tables		Some tables are used for layout and there are some data tables with no headings and captions.
9	Tab Orderings Correct and Logical		Tab order is generally good, with a left to right format."Skip to content" link is missing.
10	Page Functionality with Keyboard		The keyboard alone cannot be used with some flash player controls, with the main navigation menu and for the voting activity. This is browser dependent and in Internet Explorer it may be possible to reach more features.
11	Accessibility of Text Editors		There is no rich text editor.
12	Appropriate Feedback with Forms		There are no time restrictions. Suitable explanatory text is provided for feedback with forms.
13	Contrast and Colour Check		The black on white contrast is acceptable. High contrast mode can be achieved using external tools or built in accessibility options.
14	Page Integrity when Zooming		Layout and readability of the page are unaffected by zooming.
15	Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability		There is no blinking or moving text, sans-serif fonts are used throughout, the majority of text has font size 11.
