Description

Mobile Facebook is a simple version of the main Facebook social networking site that is designed for use on mobile phones. It offers a very clean linear look and feel without all the extra advertisements and applications. Users still have links to friends and family but less images appear in different sections.

Accessibility Testing Results

Being designed for mobile phones, there are many areas where this site is simplified and more accessible than the main site. However, when viewing on a computer, the forms have major problems as they are not labelled and may therefore be problematic for screenreader users. Many issues are dealt with well, such as zooming, contrast and page design.

# Test Score Summary
1Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible Good The login form is not labelled, and the signup form that you are directed to is not either. This may cause big problems for some screenreader users although NVDA read the nearby text.
2Image ALT Attributes Fair Images such as the site logos have alternative text, but images that have been uploaded by users do not.
3Link Target Definitions Fair Many links are repeated such as "Add as Friend", which can not be understood unless you know which user you are adding. Links are generally titled to identify their destination.
4Frame Titles and Layout Excellent No frames or iframes are used in the design of the site.
5Removal of Stylesheet Excellent The site is fully accessible with the correct document structure when it is viewed without the stylesheet.
6Audio/Video Features Excellent The mobile version of this site does not deal with multimedia content.
7Video/animations - audio descriptions Excellent The mobile version of this site does not deal with multimedia content.
8Appropriate use of Tables Excellent The page layout does not use tables.
9Tab Orderings Correct and Logical Excellent Tab ordering is a logical top-to-bottom or left-to-right format.
10Page Functionality with Keyboard Excellent The page is fully functional without a mouse.
11Accessibility of Text Editors Good There are no rich text editors just plain text forms that are accessible via a keyboard but they have no labels but NVDA reads the text beforehand and the navigation is so much easier compared to the original Facebook.
12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Excellent There is generally good feedback when the user performs an action.
13Contrast and Colour Check Excellent The mobile version of Facebook provides better contrast than the main site, which makes the text more comfortable to read.
14Page Integrity when Zooming Excellent The layout and readability of the site is unaffected by zooming.
15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Good There is some small text which is readable but may be uncomfortable for some users. Sans-serif fonts are used, and there is no flashing or blinking content.
