Description

FriendFeed allows users to share content from the web with friends, and can be used with other services such as Facebook and Twitter.

Accessibility Testing Results

There are some problems with keyboard navigation, along with zooming. Text and contrast is generally acceptable. There are several widgets available to help make links with friends but these are browser specific. The amount of different media used makes it very much up to users as to how accessible output is for a screen reader user. Flash player accessibility also depends on the browser used such as Internet Explorer.

# Test Score Summary
1Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible Good Form labels missing from signup form, which may cause issues for screenreader users. It is possible to login via Facebook, Google and Twitter.
2Image ALT Attributes Good Alternative text is offered on site images, although some images such as user pictures do not have alt tags.
3Link Target Definitions Excellent Links have titles to uniquely identify them.
4Frame Titles and Layout Excellent No frames or iframes are used in the page design, which helps screenreaders.
5Removal of Stylesheet Excellent The site is fully accessible without the stylesheet.
6Audio/Video Features Poor Videos can be embedded but need to have the captioning in place before uploading as alternatives are not provided.
7Video/animations - audio descriptions Poor Videos can be embedded but need to have the audio descriptions in place before uploading as alternatives are not provided.
8Appropriate use of Tables Fair Some tables are used, which do not include headings.
9Tab Orderings Correct and Logical Excellent Tab order is logical and consistent, in a top-to-bottom, left-to-right format.
10Page Functionality with Keyboard Poor The page cannot be navigated with the keyboard as the search box cannot be tabbed out of.
11Accessibility of Text Editors Excellent There is no rich text editor on the site.
12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Good Limited but appropriate feedback given, with no time restrictions enforced.
13Contrast and Colour Check Good Contrast is generally acceptable, although there are several text colours which give a poor contrast ratio with their background. This may cause discomfort for some users.
14Page Integrity when Zooming Fair The homepage readability can become impaired on some browsers when zooming, but once logged in the effect is reduced. Some layout problems are present, however.
15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Good Text size is readable, although some users may find some of the smaller text uncomfortable. Sans-serif fonts are used, and there is no flashing or blinking content.
