Description

Google Reader is a web based aggregator to collect and view news and RSS feeds. It is a useful way to build a store of your favourite web pages and Reader marks them when they have been read so you do not have to scroll through your entire library.

Accessibility Testing Results

Signup uses a Captcha, which impacts the accessibility of the site although once you have a Google account this can be used on this site. Some features require a mouse in order to be able to access every link, but a keyboard user can access the main headlines. It is possible to work around the site using the WebbIE text browser. Text sizes and contrast are generally good, although there may be some problems with zooming with overlaps of some links.

3Link Target Definitions Excellent All links have titles to uniquely identify them.
4Frame Titles and Layout Excellent No frames or iframes are used in the page design.

10Page Functionality with Keyboard Good It is possible to navigate most of the site with the keyboard, and be able to find the desired news story and follow the link to it. Some links and tabs cannot be accessed, however.
11Accessibility of Text Editors Excellent The site has no rich text editor.
12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Good Suitable feedback is often provided, and there are no time restrictions.
13Contrast and Colour Check Good Contrast ratios are adequate, but some non-critical text may be hard to read due to the colour used - for example light grey on white background.
14Page Integrity when Zooming Fair The readability of the site can become impaired by zooming.
15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Excellent Sans-serif fonts used, with news story headlines clear and readable. No flashing or blinking content.
