Description

Blogger is a blogging site owned by Google. It aims to present information to the world from personal perspectives.

Accessibility Testing Results

Blogger is generally accessible and easy to use, with many customization options. Zooming works well, and the page can be navigated without a mouse. There are some issues, such as images lacking alt tags, and the text editor toolbar not being accessible without a mouse.

# Test Score Summary
1Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible Good Existing Google accounts can be used to signup. The Google signup could make better use of clear labels, although the form for creating a blog is clearer.
2Image ALT Attributes Fair Images inserted into blogs do not contain alt tags, which may be problematic for screenreader users.
3Link Target Definitions Excellent All links have titles to uniquely identify them. Breadcrumb trails are used where necessary.
4Frame Titles and Layout Excellent No frames or iframes are used in the design, which helps users with screenreaders.
5Removal of Stylesheet Excellent The site is fully accessible when the stylesheet is removed.
6Audio/Video Features Fair Videos can be embedded from YouTube, which allows text captions to be turned on.
7Video/animations - audio descriptions Fair Audio descriptions can be added as part of the original video but not in Blogger. Text descriptions are possible.
8Appropriate use of Tables Excellent Tables are not used for the page layout.
9Tab Orderings Correct and Logical Excellent Tab orderings are correct and logical, in a top-to-bottom or left-to-right format.
10Page Functionality with Keyboard Excellent The page is fully accessible without a mouse.
11Accessibility of Text Editors Good Basic functionallity is accessible, the editor can be tabbed in to and out again. The toolbar can not be accessed, however.
12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Excellent Appropriate feedback is given to the user when they perform an action.
13Contrast and Colour Check Good There are some contrast issues such as light blue text on white backgrounds on the default pages, although each user has the option to change colour schemes on their own blog.
14Page Integrity when Zooming Excellent The layout and readability of the site are unaffected by zooming.
15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Good The majority of text is size 10, which may be uncomfortable for some. Fonts are sans-serif and there is no flashing or blinking content.
