Description
Dimdim has been acquired by Salesforce.com so only those who have already used the web meeting application will be able to continue to use this service. It is possible to share images, PowerPoint slides, Adobe PDFs and videos during a meeting. There is no download client like Skype or MSN. Dimdim Pro allows for corporate customisation for $99 per year. It can be used alongside content management systems like Drupal.
Accessibility Testing Results
This site is easy to use for those who work in a very visual mode with a mouse. It is not good if you are a keyboard or screen reader user. There are too many elements that will fail to make the task of setting up a meeting possible.
| # | Test | Score | Summary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible | ![]() |
The sign in area is not a link and cannot be reached with a keyboard. it is not even seen in a text browser |
| 2 | Image ALT Attributes | ![]() |
The alt tags are unhelpful in places and do not appear in others as they are part of the style sheet. |
| 3 | Link Target Definitions | ![]() |
Links are fairly good at the outset and then where important elements such as hosting a meeting are links they are inaccessible to a screenr eader or keyboard user. Javascript is used throughout the site. |
| 4 | Frame Titles and Layout | ![]() |
The main frame includes pop up frames on certain actions and although these may take the focus they do not have good tabbing order. Frames are used frequently for page design, which could cause problems for screenreader users. |
| 5 | Removal of Stylesheet | ![]() |
This virtually renders the site unusable in the important parts. Both the layout, and the navigation are affected. |
| 6 | Audio/Video Features | ![]() |
Users will need to be mindful as to how they share materials as there is no guidance for adding alternative formats. Captioning needs to be carried out in the original video. |
| 7 | Video/animations - audio descriptions | ![]() |
Users will need to be mindful as to how they share materials as there is no guidance for adding audio descriptions and this needs to be achieved in the original video. |
| 8 | Appropriate use of Tables | ![]() |
Tables are used for layout within certain frames and this is not helpful, and they do not have headings. |
| 9 | Tab Orderings Correct and Logical | ![]() |
The tab order is generally good and logical but some design issues mean that links such as "Sign Up Now" are never reached. |
| 10 | Page Functionality with Keyboard | ![]() |
It is a shame that a site that appears easy to use has not looked at this issue - the three key links on the homepage (Sign Up, Host Meeting and Join Meeting) do not appear to be keyboard accessible. |
| 11 | Accessibility of Text Editors | ![]() |
Text editing is easy once you can reach the frame and table but that is the issue. |
| 12 | Appropriate Feedback with Forms | ![]() |
Feedback is not screen reader friendly but is easy to see beside the input boxes. |
| 13 | Contrast and Colour Check | ![]() |
Many elements are fairly good although the top menu with dark grey is not that easy to read. There is also a lot of non-critical text that has a poor contrast ratio, and colour combinations such as grey on grey, and light blue on white are used which can be uncomfortable for some users. |
| 14 | Page Integrity when Zooming | ![]() |
Zooming is generally ok although some small layout problems occur. |
| 15 | Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability | ![]() |
Some text is very small in the pop up frames but the majority is clear in sans-serif font. |
