Description

Veotag allows the user to tag audio and video clips with text, to add context by adding annotations that act as a contents list allowing the user to jump frames or audio sections to particular points linked to the content. The tags help search engines and also enable users to find data within the media more easily.

Accessibility Testing Results

The whole site was relatively accessible and easy to use. The main problems were related to submitting work for publication or preview using the keyboard as the tab order was a little wayward at this stage. Elsewhere it was good. Not all the alternative texts for images were in place or useful. Some links were unhelpful by being too long or just click here. The idea of being able to add annotations to audio and videos that will be published could be very helpful. it is very easy to achieve good results with the tools provided.

# Test Score Summary
1Login, Signup and Other Forms Accessible Good The login was easy but there were one or two labels to forms that failed to explain their use.
2Image ALT Attributes Good Most images had clear alternative text descriptions but some were missing altogether
3Link Target Definitions Fair Most links were clearly part of the navigation but many sentences on some pages were complete links and some had 'click here'
4Frame Titles and Layout Fair Where frames were used titles were missing - usually around the Flash player
5Removal of Stylesheet Excellent The site remained easy to navigate without style sheets
6Audio/Video Features Good Although this is an application for tagging videos and audio it only offers text descriptions which can be added by users - they are not embedded or captioned at the outset unless this is achieved by those posting to the site.
7Video/animations - audio descriptions Good Although this is an application for tagging videos and audio it only offers text descriptions which can be added by users - they are not embedded outset unless this is achieved by those posting to the site. Audio description quality depends on the original video.
8Appropriate use of Tables Excellent Tables are not used on this site.
9Tab Orderings Correct and Logical Good Tabbing around the site generally is good but sadly in order to submit the annotations the user has to tab away from the form and back again as the tab order fails in this area
10Page Functionality with Keyboard Good Other than the problem with tabbing to submit annotations the pages are navigable with the keyboard in a logical way.
11Accessibility of Text Editors Good There are not rich text editors on this site
12Appropriate Feedback with Forms Excellent Once information is submitted a new window appears and in a text browser the video will play automatically - there are not time limitations. Other submissions bring up explanatory texts.
13Contrast and Colour Check Good Colour contrasts are good on the whole although there are areas where better contrast levels could have been achieved.
14Page Integrity when Zooming Excellent The pages are easy to read when zoomed.
15Text size, style, blinking elements and Readability Good Text on the whole is around 10pt for main areas but there are other menus that are in a very small font. It is all sans serif.
